Model 407 Series Weigh Feeders
The Model 407 is a low profile, economically priced Weigh Feeder employing Acrison's advanced “Weight-Loss-Differential” weigh feeding concepts and designs for accurately and reliably metering a wide variety of dry solid (and liquid) ingredients at feed rates ranging from approximately one pound to several thousand pounds per hour. Encompassing strong, field-proven weighing technology, specifically developed by Acrison for “Weight-Loss” weigh feeding applications, the Model 407 utilizes a uniquely configured, open “platform” type lever weighing system where the selected metering device "mounts" onto a weigh platform. This robustly constructed lever weighing network is in itself a “scale” utilizing frictionless stainless steel flexures for all pivotal connections. As weight is added to or removed from the weigh platform, the lever network “moves” in a direct relationship to that weight. This movement is precisely sensed by Acrison's Ratiometric Digital Weight Resolver and instantaneously converted into a highly accurate digital signal directly proportional to weight. Unlike “weight-loss” weigh feeders that incorporate weighing systems designed with one or more load cells…well known for their temperamental behavior and calibration drift…Acrison weighing systems do not use load cells or any other type force measurement device for sensing weight. Designed for unsurpassed precision, reliability and longevity, the Ratiometric Digital Weight Sensing System produces unamplified resolution of over one part in one million. Also, because the actual sensing element of the Ratiometric System does not physically attach to any part of the lever weighing network, it cannot be damaged by any magnitude of shock or overload that the weighing system may experience. The Ratiometric Digital Weight Sensing System is entirely adjustment-free. Analogous to the weighing mechanisms used with all of Acrison's various model “Weight-Loss-Differential” Weigh Feeders, the Model 407 Weighing System is also permanently calibrated and will remain precise without the need for recalibration and/or adjustment. In addition, this weighing mechanism is not in any way delicate and/or temperamental and will operate over an ambient temperature range of –10 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit. Optionally, it can be furnished in all stainless steel construction. Continuous metering accuracy typically ranges between +/- 0.25 to 1 percent or better (error) at two sigma, based on a given number of consecutive one minute weighments. The Model 407 Weigh Feeder is available with five different Acrison dry solids metering mechanisms… the Models 101-0, BDFM, 170-00, 170-0 and 105.

Models A405 and 406 Series of Weigh Feeders
The Models A405 and 406 are small and compact precision weigh feeders utilizing Acrison's highly advanced and widely recognized "Weight-Loss-Differential" concepts and technology to provide unexcelled "total performance" in metering a wide variety of dry solid or liquid ingredients... virtually maintenance-free devices that do not require rezeroing, calibration or adjustment. Each model weigh feeder is available with several different type metering mechanisms... the selection of which is determined by the physical handling characteristics of the product or products to be metered and/or the feed rate requirements. For the Model A405, feed rate capability ranges from approximately two pounds upwards to several thousand pounds per hour... also predicated on the selected metering mechanism, hopper size, scale capacity, product bulk density and frequency of refills. The Model 406 Weigh Feeder has a minimum feed rate capability of about 0.10 pounds upwards to approximately 800 pounds per hour... likewise predicated on the selected metering mechanism, hopper size, scale capacity, product bulk density and frequency of refills. Today's very demanding processes require Weigh Feeders that are highly
accurate and very reliable; they cannot be temperamental, delicate and/or
maintenance-intensive. Their mechanical designs and materials-handling capabilities must be proven viable and versatile. Their control systems must be leading-edge in design, functionality and interfacing capabilities. Acrison Weigh Feeders are the most advanced, precise and durable in the
industry. They are also the most flexible, boasting an unprecedented number of
superior features. Their time-proven, uncommonly rugged weighing systems are the
envy of the industry. And, Acrison Weigh Feeders require exceptionally low
maintenance.
Model 400(B) Series of Batch Weigh Feeders
Designed for small to medium size ingredient batching (dry solids or liquids), Acrison's various Model 400 Series "Weight-Loss-Differential" Weigh Feeders are available in two basic batch weighing operational arrangements to suit the exacting requirements of a given application. [When configured to operate as a batch weigh feeder, the feeder model designation is followed by a (B)].
In utilizing the "weight-loss" concept for batch weighing, the exact amount of the selected batch size (or batch weight) is discharged from the feeder; then, the feeder stops. Most significantly, the common problem of variable product accumulation anywhere on the weighing system (internally and/or externally) affecting accuracy, typically associated with batch/dump type weighing systems, cannot occur with a "weight-loss" type Model 400(B) Batch Weigh Feeder. And assuming the weighing system of the "weight-loss" feeder is accurate and reliable, batch-weighing performance will be very precise and dependable. Unlike load cell based weighing systems, which require periodic re-zeroing and re-calibration, and which are also delicate and temperature sensitive, Acrison's permanently calibrated, high resolution, rugged-duty, non-load cell weighing systems offer users a high comfort level. They are also adjustment and calibration-free, require near-zero maintenance, and boast exceptionally long life. Acrison batch weighing systems may be controlled by one of Acrison's multiprocessor controllers, the selection of which is determined by user preference and/or the specifics of a given application. Regardless of the characteristics of the dry solid ingredient(s), Acrison's wealth of expertise in this very specialized industry provides a viable solution to your batch weighing requirements. Batch accuracy typically ranges between ± 0.1 to 0.5 percent or better (error) at two sigma, based on a given number of consecutive weighments.

With the various batch/dump arrangements, the total weight or amount of product in a given batch must be encompassed within the weigh hopper (or tank). Therefore, the weigh hopper (or weigh tank for liquids) must be designed sufficient in size to hold the entire amount of the largest desired total batch. Upon the initiation of each batch, the controller automatically rezeroes the scale to ensure optimum performance.

Representing
a revolutionary new concept for continuous weigh feeding, the Model 270 Series
offers processors an economical, precise and reliable method for metering a wide
variety of dry solid ingredients at moderate to high rates in an
"in-line" vertical configuration.
Developed in direct response to user needs, the Model 270 Series of Weigh Feeders provide accurate and dependable performance in a totally dust-tight, vertical in-line configuration. With their compact design and only one moving part, these novel weigh feeders typically require less installed space than most other type heavy-duty weigh feeders having similar throughput capacities.
In operation, a circular weigh chamber, housing a series of rotating "weigh pockets", is mounted onto an ultra high resolution Acrison weighing system. A separate variable output metering device (or prefeeder), typically a rotary valve or screw type metering mechanism, attached directly to product supply, feeds material into the top inlet of the weigh feeder within which the slowly rotating constant speed "weigh pockets" continuously weigh the product. Material is then discharged through the bottom outlet of the weigh feeder, which is directly (or vertically) in-line with its inlet.
As material is fed into the weigh chamber, a weight signal is produced that is instantaneously calculated into a continuous feed rate by the weigh feeder's controller. Based on this calculation, the controller modulates the speed of the prefeeder so that its output precisely matches the selected feed rate, resulting in an accurate, continuous and uniform flow of material.
Model 270 Series Weigh Feeders utilize Acrison's exclusive counterbalanced weighing system, equipped with Acrison's Ratiometric Digital Weight Resolver for superior weight sensing and trouble-free long-term operation. Thus, because of the counterbalanced design of the weighing system, only the net weight of the material within the feeder's weigh chamber is actually weighed. In turn, optimum weight sensing resolution is realized, producing the highest possible degree of metering accuracy.
In operation, the Model 350 Blender provides...
| a unique annular interaction generated by the speed differential of the concentrically mounted, dual blending augers. | |
| dissimilar longitudinal velocities produced by the speed differential between the dual blending augers. | |
| an alternating forward and reverse action produced by the right and left hand helix configuration of the larger (outer) blending auger. | |
| a "tumbling" action created by a number of horizontal bars strategically located and affixed to sections of both augers. |
The Model 350 is a versatile, multi-purpose continuous blender utilizing Acrison's unique, dissimilar speed, Double Concentric Auger Mechanism for the homogeneous and highly efficient mixing of dry solids with dry solids, and depening upon the specifics of certain applications, dry solids with liquids.
The action imparted to the material within the Model 350 Blender by the dissimilar parallel motion of the dual concentric augers operating at different speeds, produces a gentle, but extremely thorough blend of the ingredients being continuously metered into it. Retention time within the blender is minimal and the output delivery of the blended product is smooth and consistent.
Because of the many possible variations that can occur when mixing dry solids to dry solids, or liquids to dry solids, Acrison recommends that a physical evaluation of blending efficiency be performed in our Customer Demonstration Facilities with the actual materials to determine feasibility of the application and performance of the Model 350 Blender.
The effectiveness of Acrison's Model 350 multipurpose Blender has been proven time and time again in both common and uncommon applications. Even products having input feed ratios as much as 2000:1 are successfully blended. Versatility is broad... ranging from the simplest and basic coating of a pelletized product with a lubricant or a releasing agent, to the mixing of a paste-like blend having the consistency of dough.
Operating at a constant speed, the Model 350 Blender is designed to function in a "starved" condition. Product retention is fixed but initially variable in order to produce optimum blending efficiency as necessitated by the requirements of the specific application. Although the major portion of the blender is "fixed" dimensionally, some flexibility does exist with respect to the length of its discharge cylinder.
The quick disconnect and/or sanitary features available with the Model 350 Blender are designed for the rapid remove/ and cleaning of all major components without the need for tools. The Sanitary Model 350 Blender is USDA approved and is manufactured in strict compliance with the most stringent federal sanitary requirements.
The Acrison Model 350 Blender is only furnished with Acrison's various model volumetric or gravimetric feeders to form a complete metering/blending system.
The
Model 301 is an inexpensive, moderately versatile, single auger Continuous
Blender designed for the thorough mixing of two or more dry solid ingredients.
This particular model blender basically consists of a single helical blending
auger housed in a trough or tube. Although standard Model 301 Blenders maintain
specific dimensional parameters, the length of this blender may be designed to
satisfy the layout requirements of a particular application in conjunction with
Acrison feeders.
To provide optimum blending efficiency, a specially designed helical blending auger is furnished with Acrison's Model 301 Blender. In operation, the rotating blending auger tumbles the material while at the same time, produces a partial bidirectional flow pattern that together, effectively and efficiently mixes the dry solid ingredients (being continuously metered into it) into a uniform blend. The design of the Model 301 Blender design permits control over the retention of solids and subsequently, the degree of mixing.
The quick disconnect and/or sanitary features available with Acrison equipment provide for the rapid disassembly and cleaning of all major components without the need for tools. Sanitary equipment as manufactured by Acrison strictly complies with federal sanitary codes.

Acrison strongly encourages a prospective user of dry solids metering equipment to visually and physically compare the available devices in order to select the most viable hardware to satisfy process metering requirements. Clearly there is a difference... a significant difference in technology, the design, quality, durability, maintenance parameters and attainable performance of the available dry solids metering equipment. For example, certain applications require a high degree of short term accuracy and smoothness of feed. To achieve this type of performance, Acrison has developed a variety of unique and novel mechanisms which can accomplish this task effectively and accurately. These mechanisms are capable of producing typical metering accuracy's of ± 1 to 3 percent or better (total deviation) based on a given number of consecutive short-term weighments, on intervals as brief as 0.1 seconds in duration.
Acrison's new, ultra-modern equipment demonstration facilities are the largest, most advanced and best equipped in the industry. These capabilities include the ability to test at actual production feed rates. Acrison is always available to demonstrate the operation of the selected piece of equipment with the users actual product, normally without any charge for such testing. Test procedures are generally completely automatic.
In addition to equipment demonstration/ materials testing, Acrison also offers comprehensive user training programs, focusing on equipment operation/maintenance, as well as customized seminars dealing with the application of Acrison products.
